The Fourth of July is a blast with all your family and friends. The company and food is great but what’s the best part of the fourth? Fireworks, of course! With Fireworks comes safety hazards, so we want you to be safe this holiday weekend. Here is a list of safety precautions you should take when handling fireworks.
- They Are Not Toys: Kids are often very curious and enjoy awesome colorful things. Be sure to place the Fireworks away in a secure place from the little ones. If they use Sparklers, be sure to watch them! Sparklers can reach over 1,800 degrees F!
- Just In Case: Have a bucket of water, hose, or fire extinguisher nearby! You never know what could happen!
- Think About Your Pet: Animals have sensitive ears and the Fourth of July can be very stressful for them. Keep them indoors to reduce the risk of them running away or getting injured.
- One at A Time: Lighting multiple fireworks at one time is very pretty but very dangerous! Light one at time. Don’t use glass or metal containers and never relight a dud firework.
- Stay Clear of Others: Fireworks have been known to backfire or shoot off in the wrong direction. Make sure people are far away from you and that firework is pointed in the right direction before you light it.
