Laramie LonghornFor 2013, Chrysler jumped into the luxury truck business with its own Western-themed upscale pickup: the Ram Laramie Longhorn Edition. It has been more than well received by truck lovers across the country – Car & Driver called it “a limousine that can handle mulch.” The 2013 Ram got a new front end, an all-new interior and a new V6 engine. The glitzy redo helped double Ram’s percentage of high-end sales from five years ago; its sales went up nearly 50% in April for the biggest gain of any manufacturer. Chrysler designers have created a new brand of rugged luxury in the 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Edition, which is evident in its number three ranking on the list of 10 Contenders for America’s Top Truck. Move Over SUV, the 2013 Santa Fe CUV is Here

2013 Santa Fe CUVIt’s no secret that Americans have grown increasingly fonder of the Crossover Utility Vehicle, better known as the CUV, rather than the outdated Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). Whether it’s the blurred line between SUV and Sedan, the surprising roominess, or the great gas mileage, the CUV is quite the crowd pleaser with most American drivers. Keeping up with popular demand and staying ahead of the curve, Hyundai has hopped onto the CUV band wagon with its newest addition to an already award-winning lineup, the 2013 Santa Fe 7-passenger CUV. Not to be confused with the 2013 Santa Fe Sport, which seats 5, the Santa Fe is roomier and seats 7. The Santa Fe is positioned to compete primarily against Honda’s Pilot, Toyota’s Highlander and Nissan’s Pathfinder, and secondarily against the Ford Explorer and Mazda CX-9. The New 2013 Volvo S60 Rates High for Safety

Volvo S60The completely redesigned Volvo S60 features an interior and exterior that ventures in the opposite direction of traditional Volvo models of the past. This five-seater luxury sedan features a new 3.0-L turbo-charged 6-cylinder engine with all wheel drive, producing 300 hp and 325 lb-ft torque at 5,600 rpm.

With ratings including good, acceptable, marginal, or poor, the IIHS gave the S60 a good rating for occupant protection in at least four of five evaluations, with no less than acceptable in the fifth test. Categories covered in the test included rollover, rear impact and frontal crash; the results of the test yielded the S60 Insurance for Institute for Highway Safety’s top safety award. The S60 is one of only two mid-sized luxury sedans to earn the top rating in 2013. Items like unibody high-strength steel passenger cage, inflatable curtain in side-impact head protection system, and driver and front passenger dual stage supplemental restraint systems (airbags) helped contribute to winning the safety award. You may have gotten a chance to watch the Game Day Toyota commercial featuring the 2013 RAV4 genie and her special wish granting powers. Although the 2013 RAV4 may not be an actual genie, it’s sure to grant all that you wish for in an SUV.

In a class that has become dominated by smooth, wind-sculpted designs, four-cylinder power, and conventional packaging, the RAV4 is an SUV that stands out with its angular styling, exterior-mounted spare, and optional V-6 engine. Toyota is working to Give You a 24 hour Co-Pilot

All Star Toyota of Baton RougeToyota Motor Co. is turning heads at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada!  The feature event for Toyota was the presentation of their new experimental automated vehicle; the purpose of the vehicle is to create a virtual co-pilot for drivers. The virtual co-pilot isn’t the typical “self-driving” feature that comes standard in several high-end models from manufacturers such as Mercedes; instead it helps drivers avoid accidents. The automated vehicle featured in Las Vegas has sensors and automated systems to observe, process and respond to its surroundings.
