The 2014 Chevrolet Sonic is leading the way in safety in the sub-compact vehicle segment! It was recently announced that 2014 Sonic models will be equipped with rear-vision camera, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Departure Warning.

Forward Collision Alert is a unique feature that warns drivers if they are approaching a vehicle too quickly, and can be turned on/off by the driver. Lane Departure Warning gives an alert when the vehicle veers from a marked roadway lane, while the rear-vision camera helps give drivers a clearer view of stationary objects behind the vehicle. The rear-vision camera is also enabled by the large Chevrolet MyLink’s 7-inch digital touch-screen, a great hi-tech addition to the Sonic! In MyLink-equipped Sonics, owners experience much more than the rear-vision camera. With the press of a button mounted on the steering wheel, drivers can initiate a voice command when a smart phone is paired. Furthermore, the Siri Eyes Free mode allows sessions with Siri to begin and end without the phone’s screen lighting up, which minimizes distractions while driving.

The 2014 Sonic is the first and only car in its class to receive a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score in the New Car Assessment Program administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2013 model was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and was the first subcompact to have 10 standard airbags. According to General Motors, “customer safety is our top priority. Advanced safety technologies enable customers to feel confident when buying a small car like the Chevy Sonic.” General Motors further stated, “while airbags and other passive safety technologies are indispensable, the active safety system now can help even more Sonic drivers avoid collisions from the start.”

Sonic is one of Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicles among buyers under 35, and is the only subcompact built in America.
