Despite the recent rumors, SRT chief Ralph Gilles has declared that the Dodge brand won’t be dropped. There have been a few rumors going around as of late claiming that Fiat is considering a plan to kill off its Dodge brand in the near future, perhaps as early as 2016. “Hogwash,” according SRT chief Ralph Gilles. While on a trip to meet with members of the Viper Club in Europe, Gilles responded on Instagram to these rumors, stating, “All rumors, Dodge is here to stay! It may get more focused going forward but not killed!” With that sigh of relief, Gilles’s claim about the brand becoming more focused probably refers to the upcoming deaths of the Grand Caravan and Durango. 

The idea that Dodge could be given the axe has taken so many dodge-diehards by surprise, and has maybe even made some quite angry (you know who you are!). Instead, it appears that Dodge will become car or car-based only, meaning crossover models like the Journey and its eventual replacement will live on; the Durango won’t be around too much longer due to a new Jeep that’ll be larger than the Grand Cherokee. The Grand Caravan doesn’t sell quite as well as the Chrysler Town & Country, which is why it will soon be discontinued.

Despite the eventual discontinuation of the Grand Caravan and Durango, Dodge isn’t going anywhere other than a new and fresh direction with its brand.
