The completely redesigned Volvo S60 features an interior and exterior that ventures in the opposite direction of traditional Volvo models of the past. This five-seater luxury sedan features a new 3.0-L turbo-charged 6-cylinder engine with all wheel drive, producing 300 hp and 325 lb-ft torque at 5,600 rpm.

With ratings including good, acceptable, marginal, or poor, the IIHS gave the S60 a good rating for occupant protection in at least four of five evaluations, with no less than acceptable in the fifth test. Categories covered in the test included rollover, rear impact and frontal crash; the results of the test yielded the S60 Insurance for Institute for Highway Safety’s top safety award. The S60 is one of only two mid-sized luxury sedans to earn the top rating in 2013. Items like unibody high-strength steel passenger cage, inflatable curtain in side-impact head protection system, and driver and front passenger dual stage supplemental restraint systems (airbags) helped contribute to winning the safety award.

The S60 T6 is available in three trims: Premier, Premier Plus, and Platinum. The Platinum differs from the others due to its sophisticated navigation system with Real Time Traffic, the Volvo Premium Sound System and rear park assist camera.

The Platinum trim also features a climate control package with heated seats, interior air quality system and heated windshield washer nozzle. There is also a T6 R-Design line, which offers more features that appeal to the sportier driver.

The S60 has a bucket load of standard features. Corner traction control through torque vectoring, advanced stability control, speed sensitivity steering with driver selectable setting, and ventilated dual brakes with anti-lock braking system provide for a quality ride with sharp cornering easily managed. All these result in negligible sway as the vehicle powers out of the curve without pause or power loss, which ultimately keeps the driver feeling fully assured.

The power and performance features have a huge impact on the overall safety ratings of the S60, but that doesn’t mean the interior should be overlooked in the overall appeal of the luxury sedan. The S60 has Volvo Sensus infotainment system with integrated 7-inch color LCD monitor, power glass moonroof, and dual Xenon headlamps with active bending lights. The driver and passenger front seats are wrapped in quality leather. They are comfortable with 8-way power adjustment, 3-position memory (driver), adjustable lumbar support, and seat-back pockets.

The S60 is equipped with an intelligent key fob called Keyless Drive with Personal Car Communication (PCC). The intelligent key fob allows the owner to check the security status of the vehicle from a distance, and automatically unlocks doors with a grasp of the handle. And of course, it has standard functions such as trunk release and panic alarm. The seats sit tall enough to allow the driver an easy command of all controls, whether it’s the dual-zone electronic climate control, the auto-dimming inside rear view mirror with compass, or the Bluetooth hands-free phone interface with auto streaming.
